Another of my ’90’s builds, all hand painted with Humbrol enamels. I’m pretty pleased with the way I got the paint to “flow”, but it’s probably a thicker coat than necessary.
Typical Tamiya, the engineering for this kit was remarkable, especially with the close tolerances 4 front wheels.
I have only 2 complaints about this kit:
- The front aero body is a 2-part component, split right where you’d want it to look perfect, but very susceptible to splitting at the seam.
- in hind sight, I should have re-enforced it better – could still do that, I suppose…..
- The front suspension brake cooling ducts are made from fine springs, which quite look the part, but they offer some resistance on the suspension, making all the front wheels “toe-in”.
This model is totally out of box – I didn’t know about Photo-Etch in the 90’s. I added some extra piping & cabling to improve realism. That’s all.
It’s a lovely model & draws interest wherever it’s displayed – Currently on display in the ESSMC cabinet at Model & Hobbies 4 U – thanks to Chris!
